Joining Genius made me order Limitless by Jim Kwik. Even with the knowledge, I don’t remember what I read, and it’s impossible to summarise after a conversation or reading. The cover and inside of the cover made me curious enough to start the book and try again.<\/p>
In the past two weeks, it seemed like my brain is starting to adapt. It’s still fragile and unpredictable. Sometimes I speak without word-finding problems or talk about something that I captured somewhere in my brain that I didn’t seem to remember in my short-term memory. Jim’s story about learning to read and learn despite his brain trauma gave me hope. I know there is no evidence about the possibilities in recovering from Long Covid, so I only learn if I try.<\/p>
The example of Pomodoro brought back many nice memories of my days as a teacher. Eleven years ago, I used the Pomodoro app in class to create more effectiveness in learning. That school year was awesome. I made my first website and played learning games with my class. I used Covey’s 4DX in learning and made it visible for the students and invisible for others. I created more fun and effective learning. I felt as happy as my students.<\/p>
For now, I use a reversed Pomodoro. I’m happy if I’m able to read for 5-10 minutes, and then I try it again when my head feels clear. That can be in a few hours, the next day, or days later. How do I become FASTER? To use the FASTER method for reading and in daily life.
F: Forget, start with a beginner’s mind. Allowing myself to forget makes life easier. And me more open-minded to learn, read and remember.
A: Act: By taking notes in handwriting, I internalize what I’ve read. And the Kwik Start Exercises guide me.
S: State: I choose a position where I’m free of pain and feel relaxed. I also put some reggae music on to get more relaxed and empty-minded.
T, E, R are more difficult right now, Teach, Enter and Reflect. I need to repeat over and over to be able to reflect or to teach. And sometimes I don’t, and I’m able to tell and teach days later while not be able to do so earlier.
Enter is, for me, the acceptance that I only manage to read when my body allows me to because it needs all energy in fighting this crazy virus.<\/p>
